Best Family Friendly Beaches in Ferndale

Located in the town of Ferndale, Cape Mendocino Beach is a long, narrow, and less crowded beach that is also the westernmost beach in Humboldt County as well as in California. Cape Mendocino Beach is situated on the east side of a large ranch owned by the Russ Ranch and Timber Company. Cape Mendocino Beach offers a couple of amenities, including a lighthouse and driftwoods. 

Located in the town of Ferndale, Centerville Beach is a very long and wide beach on the south side of the point where the Eel River meets the North Pacific Ocean.  Centerville Beach is backed by farmlands, swamps, and wetlands – and is a popular spot for birdwatching and beachcombing.  

Located in the town of Ferndale, Devils Gate Beach is two miles long, rocky, and a black sand beach on the south side of Cape Mendocino.  Devils Gate Beach welcomes dogs on leash and offers fishing and hiking.
