Pragser Wildsee, known as Lago di Braies in Italian, is arguably the most beautiful lake in the Dolomites. Located in the Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol region of northern Italy, this natural lake was formed by a landslide. Its turquoise color is due to glacial sediment, and the surrounding mountains reflect beautifully in the clear waters, making it a popular spot for photography and filming.
The lake has a rich history, becoming a tourist destination in the 19th century, and was first mentioned in travel literature in the mid-1800s. In 1882, a hotel was built near the lake, which today is known as Hotel Pragser Wildsee.
The area surrounding the lake offers diverse landscapes and activities, from hiking to cross-country skiing, and features several historic and scenic spots.
