Overview
Located in the village of Finikounda (also called Foinikounta), Finikounda Beach – also known as Paralia Finikounda – is a long beach with light brown sand and a considerable number of pebbles in southwestern Peloponnese.
Amenities
Although Finikounda Beach does not have lifeguards, the beach has a few other amenities including rental facilities for beach umbrellas and sun loungers, a nearby playground, an inflatable floating playground (during the summer), and a nearby rocky pier with benches.

Getting to Finikounda Beach is easy – this beach is easily accessible from the nearby city of Kalamata through Greek National Road 82 and Greek National Road 9. Street signs around the roads near Kalamata offer directions to Finikounda Beach.
Parking near Finikounda Beach can be difficult – while there are free parking lots near the eastern and western ends of Finikounda Beach, these lots can get filled up quickly, especially during the summer. If these lots fill up, you can park at the free parking lot of a nearby church or the free street parking spaces and then walk to this beach. Please also note that the parking lots adjacent to Finikounda Beach may be occasionally closed during summer evenings.
If you want to travel by bus, there is a bus service to Finikounda from the city of Kalamata.
We recommend visiting Finikounda Beach early during the summer because the beach can get significantly crowded during this season.

There are many attractions near Finikounda Beach. Methoni Castle is a castle that was built by local Venetian rulers in the 13th century and it has interesting Venetian architectural influences – this castle’s premises also have remains of Ottoman and Byzantine era buildings and it offers a unique insight into local history. Atelier Sudis an art gallery that has many interesting artworks including paintings, ceramics, and sculptures. Sapienza is a small nearby island that offers many fun activities including hiking, wildlife watching, boating, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, canoeing, and surf-skiing – this island has a beautiful arbutus forest with rare animal species, a beach named Ammos Beach, a 19th-century lighthouse, and multiple shipwrecks nearby. If you are looking for another attraction near Finikounda Beach, New Castle of Pylos is a historic castle that is a 23-minute drive away and was built by Ottoman Turks in the 16th century – this castle has a church and a museum that offers many interesting historical exhibits.
