Located in eastern Peloponnese and near the village of Mavrovouni, Mavrovouni Beach – also known as Paralia Mavrovouniou – is a five-kilometer-long and popular beach with coarse light brown sand and a nearby pebbly seafloor. Mavrovouni Beach has been awarded a Blue Flag for its cleanliness.

Mavrovouni Beach is popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers because the beach has strong winds, particularly during summer afternoons between June and August.

There are many attractions near Mavrovouni Beach. The Lighthouse of Gythio is a 25 meters tall lighthouse that was built in the 19th century – the lighthouse’s premises have a museum that contains interesting exhibitions on the nautical and maritime history of the Mani peninsula. Cultural Center of East Mani – also called the Center of Information and Interpretation of Eastern Mani – has interesting exhibitions on the culture and history of the eastern Mani peninsula. This museum also has exhibits on locally-produced products and local industries. The shipwreck of a 67-meter-long ship named Dimitrios is also a famous attraction – this shipwreck offers amazing Instagram-worthy photos and is popular with photographers.
