Skala Fourkas

Located in the coastal village of Fourkas on the western part of the Kassandra Peninsula, Skala Fourkas Beach is a long and wide beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  The beach is positioned on the shores of the Thermaic Gulf and has a beautiful backdrop of low hills with coastal vegetation, a few taverns, and a bar, which together provide incredible views of the Aegean Sea.  The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag certification due to its cleanliness and water quality standards.

Skala Fourkas Beach offers many amenities, including lifeguards, showers, restrooms, shady areas, a bar, several taverns, a nearby park, beach equipment rental facilities, parasols, and sunbed rental facilities.

Skala Fourkas Beach offers several fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, picnicking, hiking, fishing, and diving.  If you are planning to go into the water, the beach has a safe swimming area.  If you enjoy fishing, you may catch a variety of fish.   If you enjoy snorkeling, the beach offers amazing opportunities to explore the underwater world.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  The beach is ideal for visitors looking for a serene beach experience, but it attracts a large influx of visitors during the summer season.   Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

There are many attractions near Skala Fourkas Beach.  Petralona Cave has chambers and corridors that feature unique stalactite and stalagmite formations created by the slow dripping of water over thousands of years.  In addition, one of the most notable aspects of the cave is a human skull, popularly known as the “Petralona Skull,” which is believed to be about 700,000 years old, making it one of the oldest human remains in Europe. Folk Museum of Polychrono has a gallery that displays interesting exhibits on farming tools, equipment, and utensils used for making bread, beekeeping tools, carpentry tools, textile instruments, everyday household goods and tools, and traditional costumes that showcase the rich culture and heritage of the region of the village Polychrono through historic artifacts, photographs, maps, banknotes, and related memorabilia.  Mavrobara Turtle Lake is a small lake that is surrounded by pine wood forest in the lap of Kassandra Mountain and is home to three rare species of European water turtles.  Visitors have to hike for around three kilometers to access this lake and the surrounding area, which preserves the fragile ecosystem and biodiversity of the region.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, the Temple of Ammon Zeus is an archeological site where visitors can find the ruins of the temple dedicated to the Egyptian god Zeus, which offers a glimpse into the ancient history of the region.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants on Skala Fourkas Beach.  Takisis right on the beach and serves incredible Greek food, including salads, pizzas, seafood, and meat dishes.  Mple Seaside Gastrobaris another beachfront restaurant that serves amazing Mediterranean food, including seafood, beef, pork, and meat dishes. Sifis Tavernais another beachfront restaurant that serves traditional Greek dishes, seafood, poultry, and meat dishes.   Alexandro Taverna is another restaurant serving incredible Greek food, including salads, pizzas, seafood, and meat dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Capri serves pizzas, bruschetta, spaghetti, omelets, salads, and waffles.
