Palmizana/Pakleni Beach

Located on the island of Sveti Klement in the Paklinski Islands in the Hvar archipelago, Palmizana Beach is a small beige sand beach with many pebbles and rocky portions.  The beach is positioned along the protected bay of Vinogradisce and has a beautiful backdrop of a lush, Mediterranean environment with pine forests, rosemary bushes, and cactus gardens nearby, creating a picturesque setting on the shores of the Adriatic Sea.

Palmizana Beach, Hvar, does not have lifeguards but has many other amenities, including shaded areas, a sunbed and parasol rental facility, beach equipment rental facility, restrooms, changing rooms, showers, restaurants, and nearby hotels.

Palmizana Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, snorkeling, hiking, photography, and exploring the nearby botanical gardens.  If you plan to go into the water, this naturally sheltered bay is a safe area to swim, but we recommend being careful as the water is known to have rocky bottoms.   Snorkelers and divers may spot the diverse marine life that thrives in its clear waters.   Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  It is a popular spot with photographers due to its dramatic landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and scenic beauty, making it the best spot to take Palmizana Beach photos.  This beach is often considered an unofficial nude beach, especially at the far ends.  Visitors can enjoy a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters, making it a year-round destination.   Dogs are not allowed on the beach, which is open from sunrise until sunset.

Getting to Palmizana Beach is easy -  the beach is easily accessible from the mainland Hvar; visitors can take a water taxi or a private boat from Hvar Port to Palmizana Marina.  Water taxis regularly depart from Hvar Harbor and take around 20 minutes to reach Palmizana. These boats typically run every half hour during peak season.  Alternatively, you can also rent a private boat to reach the beach.  Upon arrival, it is just a short walk from the marina to Palmizana Beach.

Interestingly, there is a popular botanical garden near the beach featuring exotic plants and artwork that was built by the renowned Meneghello family, known as Palmizana Botanical Garden.

There are many attractions near Palmizana Beach.  Palmizana Botanical Garden was established by the well-known Meneghello family in the early 20th century and is known for its collection of exotic plants, including agave, cacti, yucca, and other succulents from around the world, thriving in the island's Mediterranean climate.  Many unique sculptures and artworks are installed throughout the garden, adding an artistic touch to the natural surroundings.  Palmizana is a small picturesque village and tourist resort located off the Dalmatian coast known for its crystal-clear waters, sandy beaches, and lush vegetation.  It’s a popular destination for swimming, snorkeling, and sunbathing that attract many visitors throughout the year.  The Church of St. Clement is a historic church built by fishermen and locals in the 16th century known for its modest stone structure and serene setting, nestled amidst nature, making it a peaceful and culturally rich stop near Palmizana Bay.  

Pelorus Bay is a serene coastal area known for its crystal-clear waters, sheltered coves, and lush native bush, offering an idyllic setting for kayaking, fishing, boating, snorkeling, diving, and hiking trails that provide scenic views of the surrounding hills and coastline.
