Located on Rapa Nui (Easter Island) in Chile, Anakena Beach is a 150-meter-long white coral sand beach with many rocky portions.  This small, sheltered cove is positioned on the southeastern Pacific coastline and has a beautiful backdrop of a grove of palm trees, coastal vegetation, rugged cliffs, and a cafe, which together add to its tropical feel.  The beach has two ceremonial platforms: Ahu-Ature has a single Moai statue, and Ahu Nao-Nao has seven restored Moai statues with topknots, which offers an interesting insight into the island’s rich cultural and historical past.  Anakena Easter Island is part of the Rapa Nui National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that aims to protect the rich archaeological heritage of Easter Island.

Anglers may catch a wide variety of fish in the water near the beach.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  A point on a cliff is known for taking the best Anakena Beach pictures.  The beach hosts many cultural events, including the annual Tapati Rapa Nui festival, which celebrates Rapa Nui culture.  It is perfect for visitors looking for a serene experience, but it attracts many visitors for its beauty and historical significance.  Also, riding bicycles is a popular mode of transportation around the island, allowing visitors to experience the calm surroundings at their own pace.  Visitors can enjoy the warm and subtropical Anakena Beach Easter Island climate throughout the year. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Getting to Anakena Beach is easy - the beach is located near Ahu Nau Nau, Easter Island, Valparaiso, Chile, which provides easy access to the beach.

According to local legend, the beach was once the royal residence of the island's first king, Hotu Matu'a. It is also believed to be the landing site of the first Polynesian settlers, led by the legendary king Hotu Matu'a. The beach has inspired numerous artists and writers with its beauty and historical depth.

In addition, the beach and its surrounding area were featured in the Kevin Reynolds film Rapa Nui.

There are many attractions near Anakena Beach.  Ahu Nau Nau is a prominent ceremonial platform that features seven moai statues, several of which have retained their red topknots, known as pukao.  The site is remarkable for its detailed carvings and historical significance, offering a glimpse into the island's rich cultural and ceremonial past.  Rano Raraku is a volcanic crater that served as the main quarry for the island's famous Moai statues.  Visitors may spot approximately 400 statues in various stages of completion and offer invaluable insights into the methods and tools used by the Rapa Nui people to create their iconic statues.  Rapa Nui National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that protects the rich archaeological heritage of Easter Island, including the Moai statues, ceremonial platforms (ahus), petroglyphs, and ancient village ruins, providing insights into their ancient civilization and religious practices.  The park also includes natural features such as volcanic craters, lava tubes, and beaches.  The park is a unique blend of historical, cultural, and natural sites, attracting a large number of visitors.

Ana Kakenga Cave is a lava tube cave formed by volcanic activity known for its two openings that look out over the ocean.  Visitors can take a guided tour to explore the cave, which involves a short crawl through a narrow entrance before it opens up into larger chambers with natural rock formations and provides valuable information about the cave’s history, geology, and cultural significance.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Orongo Village is an archaeological site located on the edge of the Rano Kau volcano that hosts the famous Tangata Manu (Birdman) cult, which involved a race to retrieve the first sooty tern egg from the nearby islet of Motu Nui.  Orongo Village provides valuable insights into the unique cultural and religious practices of the Rapa Nui people, making it a significant site for both historical and archaeological studies.
