Located on the western coast of Cape Range National Park in the town of Exmouth, Lakeside Beach - also known as Lakeside Snorkeling Area - is a long and wide beige sand beach that is considered one of the best Exmouth snorkeling areas in the region.  The beach is tucked between Varanus Beach and Mesa Campground and has a beautiful backdrop of rugged gorges, dunes, and bushlands, which together provide incredible views of the vast Indian Ocean.  Lakeside Beach is part of the Lakeside Sanctuary Zone of Ningaloo Marine Park, which is considered one of the world's largest fringing coral reefs.

Lakeside Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities except a toilet and a few picnic tables, so plan your trip accordingly.

Lakeside Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, fishing, bushwalking, and hiking.  If you are planning to go into the water, the beach has a safe swimming area.  The beach offers amazing opportunities for snorkelers and divers to explore the large coral bombies that are home to an abundance of marine life, including large rays, gropers, sharks, turtles, and a wide variety of fish species within the Lakeside Sanctuary Zone.  There is a designated snorkeling area, which is around 500 meters south along the beach, where you can see the Lakeside Sanctuary marker (yellow posts) and two in-water Sanctuary markers (yellow buoys), and you can explore the underwater world for 150 meters before returning to your original entry point.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  Anglers may catch a wide variety of fish, including coral trout, mackerel, and emperor fish. It is perfect for visitors looking for a tranquil experience, as this beach sees fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.  There is a nearby lakeside campground, popularly known as Mesa Campground, where visitors may book a lakeside camp to enjoy an incredible camping experience.   Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Lakeside Beach does not offer an access path for people with disabilities.

Getting to Lakeside Beach is easy - the beach has a small parking lot located near Yardie Creek Road.  Visitors must pay eight dollars per person as an admission fee to access Cape Range National Park.
