Located in the small town of Waianae, Ma’ili Beach has a long, wide, rocky, and white sand beach on the west shore of an island named Oahu. “Ma'ili '' in Hawaiian means little pebbles and the beach is a part of Ma’ili Beach Park that is spread across 40 acres and has a camping site. Ma’ili Beach is a popular destination for surfing and snorkeling – it has two popular surfing sites named Green Lanterns and Tumbleland. Although Ma’ili Beach does not have lifeguards, it offers many amenities including restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and a playground. There are many fun activities at Ma’ili Beach including diving, surfing, snorkeling, camping, picnicking, and beach walking. Please note that only advanced surfers and divers are advised to go in waters during winters at Ma’ili Beach because of rocky shore, huge waves, and strong rip currents. If you are looking for additional activities, you can drive 10 minutes north to Kea’au Beach County Park which has an incredible campground with 25 camping sites that remains closed on Wednesday and Thursday every week. Getting to Ma’ili Beach is very easy – the beach is located at 87 Farrington Highway and there are street parking spots along the highway.
