Overview

Located in the town of Kailua Kona, Aimakapa Beach has a long and narrow beach situated on the south side of Kalihi Point in front of Aimakapa Fishpond.  Aimakapa Beach is a part of Kaloko-Honokohau National Historic Park which is home to many native water birds including the Black-Necked Stilt, the Coot, and the Pied-Billed Grebe. Aimakapa Beach is a family-friendly spot with small waves and shallow water where children can swim easily. Although Aimakapa Beach does not have lifeguards, there are many fun activities here including swimming, surfing, snorkeling, fishing, hiking, boating, canoeing, and wildlife watching. Getting to Aimakapa Beach requires a little bit of work. After you get off of Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway, you will need to hike 20 minutes west on Ala Mauka Makai Trail and then north on Ala Kahakai trail to reach the beach.
