Tresilian Bay is a tiny rocky cove lined with cliffs that house many little caves. Visitors normally stand atop these cliffs to view the bay, rather than actually visiting its shore. Dating back to the 15th century, Tresilian Bay's caves were carved out to make secret tunnels for pirates of the time period. Nowadays, visitors swear they can hear voices of a pirate who drowned in the cave hundreds of years ago. The superstitious traditions continue with the "bow of destiny" cave, where couples go to throw pebbles into the sea, attempting to get a sense of when they will get married. Next to the cliffs sits the Tresilian House, a private estate previously owned by English royalty; its driveway was closed to the public in the mid 1800s.
