Llandudno - North Shore Beach

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near North Shore Beach.  Forte’s Restaurant is a popular restaurant that offers some excellent dishes including pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, salads, wraps, steaks, and eggs – it also offers refreshing hot beverages.  The Dining Room Restaurant at Bodysgallen Hall is an upscale restaurant that offers a variety of excellent gourmet dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner – it has also been awarded three prestigious “AA Rosette” awards by the Automobile Association.  Wildwood Llandudno is an Italian restaurant that is known for serving amazing Italian-inspired dishes including grilled meat, pizza, calzone, and pasta.  LC Drink & Dine is a pub that has a vibrant beer garden, and it offers many excellent dishes including steak, roast lamb, roast turkey, and wraps – it also has a variety of refreshing beers.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Carlton Llandudno is another pub with a beer garden that offers a variety of excellent bar snacks including lasagne, burgers, chicken tikka masala, and steaks.

If you are looking for a hotel near North Shore Beach, there are many great nearby options.  The 4-Star St. George’s Hotel offers a variety of amenities including a bar, a lounge, a restaurant, common sitting areas, and complimentary breakfast.  The 4-Star Lauriston Court Hotel is another great upscale hotel that is set in a restored Victorian-style building and offers a lounge and free breakfast.  Another great upscale hotel is the The Wildings Hotel & Tudno's Restaurant that offers many amenities including a restaurant and a lounge that offers ocean views.  A more affordable hotel is the 3-Star Marine Hotel that offers many amenities including a bar and a pool and it offers amazing sea views.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star Grand Hotel Llandudno offers many amenities including a cafe, multiple bars, and live entertainment.

Although North Shore Beach Llandudno does not have lifeguards, this beach has many other amenities including restrooms, a nearby promenade, a playground, a paddling pool (located at the eastern part of the beach), and rental facilities for beach chairs.

Dogs are not allowed here between May 1st and September 30th.

Llandudno North Shore Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, fishing, boating, windsurfing, kitesurfing, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, paddleboarding, water-skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.

If you are planning to swim, kayak, or canoe here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  In addition, the shoreline here also has algae and large rocks, which makes water activities difficult – you can also sometimes find jellyfish on a seasonal basis here.

If you like clicking sunrise and sunset beach pictures with beautiful views, North Shore Beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Llandudno Bay and the Conwy shoreline, especially in mornings and evenings.  If you are looking for a sandy beach, you can visit a nearby beach named West Shore Beach, which is considerably sandier than North Shore Beach.

Getting to North Shore Beach is easy – from the North Welsh Expressway, turn towards The Royal Welsh Way.  From Royal Welsh Way, you need to turn towards Wormhout Way and then towards Conway Road.  Conway Road will eventually lead you to Llandudno Promenade.

There are paid and free street parking spaces near the beach, along with multiple nearby paid parking lots – one of these paid parking lots is located near the North Parade.  You can visit the website of Conwy County for more information regarding the parking fees.  Please note that portions of this beach are restricted to public access between May to the end of September.  The part of the beach that is seasonally restricted is located between Clarence Road and Llandudno Pier.

The area near this beach is known for hosting funny and interesting “Punch-and-Judy”-style puppet shows, which depicts comedic disputes between a puppet couple – this show is a traditional local favorite and it has been organized for over 150 years.

There are many attractions near North Shore Beach.  Llandudno Pier is a historic pier near the beach that was built in the late 19th century and it is roughly 700-meters-long.  This pier offers an amazing view of the Irish Sea – this pier offers many fun things to explore including shops, amusement arcades, and a fishing area.  Another great attraction near the beach is the Llandudno Promenade that is almost two miles long promenade that offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Irish Sea and the Llandudno shoreline – it is a great place for biking and having an oceanfront stroll.  Conwy Castle – also called Castell Conwy – was built in the late 13th century by the English king Edward I and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  It has a high curtain wall and eight lofty towers – this historic castle also displays beautiful decorations and fireworks during Christmas.

The Great Orme Mines is a series of copper mines that are around 4000 years old – these mines offer a unique insight into how copper was mined here and turned into bronze during the Bronze Age.  In addition, this site also has a visitor center showing educational exhibitions and a gift shop.  If you are looking for another attraction near this beach, the Great Orme Country Park is a country park that is set within a headland named the Great Orme and it offers many fun activities including hiking, wildlife watching, and rock climbing – this headland offers amazing views of the Llandudno Bay and it also offers a unique chance to explore the local geology and cultural history.  You can also ride a fun tramway called the Great Orme Tramway around this park - this tramway offers a fun Llandudno cable car experience.
