Located in the town of Stevenston, Stevenston Beach is a curve-shaped, nude beach with light brown sand, nearby rocky jetties, and nearby sand dunes in the Scottish county of Ayrshire.  This beach and the area around it are a part of a local nature reserve called the Stevenston Beach Local Nature Reserve.

This beach is also sometimes used as a nudist beach – the Scottish newspaper The Daily Record featured Stevenston Beach Park in its article “Nudist beaches in Scotland – but be prepared for chilly weather.”  In addition, a local Scottish newspaper Ayr Advertiser also listed this beach in its article “Ayrshire's best beaches: Top 10 as rated by TripAdvisor.”

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Stevenston Beach.  Doon The Beach Community Cafe offers excellent snacks including bread rolls, baked potatoes, sandwiches, and toast, along with a variety of refreshing beverages.  Multan Tandoori is an Indian restaurant that is known for serving a variety of other excellent dishes including chicken tikka, biryani, dhansak, lamb do-pyaza, and vegetable curry.  The Great Wok is a Chinese restaurant that offers many excellent Asian dishes including fried rice, Asian-style curries, spring rolls, and chili chicken.  Another great pub is the Red Squirrel that offers many excellent dishes including roast meat, Yorkshire pudding, beef chili, pasta, mushroom pie, and burgers.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant near the beach, Quality Fish & Chips Takeaway is known for serving excellent fish-and-chips, along with a variety of other dishes including sausages, onion rings, sandwiches, and pizzas.  The Pop Inn is another great affordable restaurant that offers a variety of delicious dishes including burgers, enchiladas, soups, lasagna, and curries.

If you are looking for hotels near Stevenston Beach, there are many great nearby options.  The 4-Star The Waterside Hotel offers many amenities including a restaurant, a snack bar, a spa, and outdoor sitting areas.  The 4-Star The Gailes Hotel & Spa offers many amenities including a golf course, a restaurant, a spa, a lounge, gardens, bike rental facilities, and a fitness center.  Another great hotel is the 4-Star Riverside Lodge Hotel that offers a restaurant and is located conveniently close to some of the major attractions around Irvine.  A more affordable accommodation option is the Red Squirrel – this pub also offers rooms for accommodation and it offers many amenities to its guests including a kids’ play area, a beer garden, a pool table, and a fireplace.  If you are looking for another good and affordable hotel near the beach, the 3-Star Lauriston Hotel offers many amenities including a restaurant, lounge, and a bar.

Although Stevenston Beach, Scotland, does not have lifeguards or other amenities, there are many others nearby, including walking paths, benches, picnic areas, and a playground.  Dogs are allowed at this beach.

Stevenston Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, boating, jet-skiing, water-skiing, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.  If you are planning to swim, kayak or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves.  In addition, the water here is also known to have a lot of jellyfish.

This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience because it receives fewer visitors than other nearby beaches.

If you like taking Stevenston Beach photos with excellent views, Stevenston Beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the Ayr County shoreline, the Firth of Clyde, and the Isle of Arran – sunset is an especially ideal time to click golden sands Stevenston photos.  If you like birdwatching, you can see many kinds of local and migratory birds around this beach including the Brent goose, the golden plover, sandpipers, and little stints – in addition, you can also hike around the beach in summers and explore the vibrant dune system and beautiful wildflowers.

Stevenston Beach does not have wheelchair access to visitors with disabilities.

Getting to Stevenston Beach is easy – from a local highway named the A87, you need to turn towards another road named the A738.  From A738, you need to turn towards a road named B752 – while driving along the B752, you will come across a roundabout.  From this roundabout, you need to take a road that is signposted for the Ardeer Village – at the end of this road, you need to take a left turn towards Shore Road.  Shore Road will lead you to the free parking lots for Stevenston Beach.

You can easily walk to the beach after parking here.

The name of the beach and the town – Stevenston – is named after a 12th century landowner named Stephen Lockhart who inhabited a nearby castle named the Kerelaw Castle.

There are many attractions near Stevenston Beach within a 20-minute-drive.  Eglinton Country Park is a 400 hectare recreational park that is built around a former estate called the Eglinton Estate – this park offers many fun activities including horse riding, hiking, fishing, biking, and wildlife watching.  This park also has many other interesting features to explore including a playground, a cafe, hiking trails, and two grassy fields – you can also see the ruins of the Eglinton Castle while visiting here.  If you like golf, Irvine Golf Club is a golf club that offers a fun and challenging golf club developed by famous Scottish golfer James Braid.  In addition, it also offers a fun and challenging golf experience.  North Ayrshire Heritage Centre offers interesting artefacts on the local history and prehistory – this center offers exhibitions on local history and prehistory including a 13th century stone sarcophagus, fossilized tree trunks, a Celtic-style cross, and a fire cart.  Kilwinning Abbey is a derelict abbey that was established in the mid-12th century by the Tironensian Benedictine monks – while this abbey was destroyed in the mid 1500s, it offers a unique insight into the local history.  If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Ardeer Quarry Local Nature Reserve is a natural reserve that offers many kinds of vibrant habitats including woodland, wetland, grassland, and scrub – this reserve also has a pond and you can hike here to explore its vibrant biodiversity.
