Porthmellon Beach, also written as Porth Mellon Beach, is closest to Hugh Town on St Mary's, the largest of the Isles of Scilly. Dogs are welcome on this beach, but only seasonally, so it's best to check online for details on summer restrictions. Stay the night at the Island View Holiday Home or scour the internet to rent a local's cozy cottage, such as Beggars Roost or Demelza. Be sure to walk an extra 10 minutes to Porthloo Studios, an artist's haven, which displays jewelry, sculptures, and paintings in its three creative studios. This is en route to Juliet's Garden Restaurant and Bar, the perfect spot for local seafood with a view of the beach. In 2018, locals welcomed The Beach, St Mary's first BBQ restaurant which boasts a range of local seafood smothered in savory sauces.
