Once you lay eyes on Phra Nang Beach, you'll have to pinch yourself to make sure it's real. The beach's beauty takes the form of greenish-blue waters, towering seaside cliffs, and velvety-soft sand. A majestic rock island sits a little ways out in the water, with lush greenery covering its surface. There are rocky caves carved into the mountainside, a vibrant coral reef, and an ancient shrine at the beach, once again adding to the uniqueness of Phra Nang Beach.
The picturesque, limestone cliffs offer rock climbers some of the best thrills in the Krabi Province, and some of the best views of the beach. Below the cliffs lies the cave that has earned the beach its name. Phra Nang Cave, also known as Princess Cave, is dedicated to the princess whose husband set out to sea but never returned; the cave is dedicated to her soul that mourned for her husband's disappearance. Today, the cave is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva, who is associated with fertility. Various offerings from local fishermen sit in the shrine, and many tourists come as a couple to hopefully earn some good luck for their chance as parents.
The beach is best for kayaking around the island and snorkeling along the beautiful coral reef. Phra Nang Beach is only accessible by longtail boat from Krabi. Once you arrive, you'll see the luxurious Rayavadee Resort a short distance away, occupying 26 acres of the beach. There are also restaurants and bars that fit into the hippie beach vibe, with wild monkeys hanging out just outside the establishments. Phra Nang Beach is one of the most interesting beaches that we've discovered, and we know you'll love it just as we do.
