La Roda

Located in the city of Altea, Playa de La Roda is a small and narrow pebble beach that is situated in a protected rocky cove.  Also known as Playa de La Roda Beach, Playa de La Roda has been awarded the Blue Flag due to its cleanliness.  Playa de La Roda is surrounded by mountains and runs along a pedestrian promenade featuring a few small souvenir shops.  Playa de La Roda is a family-friendly beach with calm waters because it is on the north side of a breakwater. 

Playa de La Roda offers many amenities including lifeguards, restrooms, showers, playgrounds, wooden walkaways, handicap accessible stairways, and water sport equipment rentals. 

If you are looking for attractions near Playa de La Roda, you can drive 20 minutes to Museo Boca del Calvari, an art museum that features many architectural drawings, historic photographs, writing, scrapbooks, three-dimensional objects in the Architecture and Design Collection, and over 1,500 original works of the museum.  Castillo de Moraira is a historical 18th Century stone fortress that was built to defend the Costa Blanca coast from pirate attacks and features three wings, two floors, and four bronze cannons around the top of the castle.  Family Park is an amusement park that offers many rides and games including pirate ship, go-karts, bungee jumping, wipeout, elastic beds, and miniature Formula 1 bumper cars.  Another great attraction near Playa de La Roda is Parc de L’Aiguera which is a family-friendly park that is designed in a neoclassical style and consists of two amphitheaters and landscaped grounds.

Getting to Playa de La Roda is very easy – there is a free parking lot at N-332, 135, 03590 Altea and after parking, you will need to walk two minutes south to get to the beach.

There are many fun activities at Playa de La Roda including swimming, snorkeling, boating, biking, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, sunbathing, and beach walking.

The restaurant is well-known for its calamari, mussels, octopus, fruitcakes, paella, and rice items.  Castell Del Port serves soups, starters, bastilla, lamb, and pastries in an elegant setting with fine decor, warm lighting, tasty furnishings, and art-decorated walls.  Another good restaurant near Playa de La Roda is Diferens Altea that has a nice menu including pizza, pies, burgers, pasta, and drinks.  Diferens Altea uses the freshest ingredients, a variety of toppings, and freshly baked dough for all its dishes.
