Playa Chica is a small, picturesque beach located in Puerto de la Cruz, on the northern coast of Tenerife, Canary Islands. It is part of the Playa Jardín complex, which includes three urban and family coves with black sand. Playa Chica offers a tranquil atmosphere with sheltered waters, making it suitable for a refreshing break between exploring the historic center of Puerto de la Cruz. The beach features black volcanic sand mixed with pebbles and is surrounded by natural rock formations, providing views of Punta Brava and the mountains. Although it is relatively small, measuring 130 meters long and barely 10 meters wide, it benefits from the amenities of Playa Jardín, including gardens with native flora and waterfalls.
The beach's proximity to Loro Parque, one of the most visited zoos in the world, adds to its appeal. The waves can be moderate, so visitors should remain vigilant, especially during strong sea conditions. Overall, Playa Chica offers an intimate charm and is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
Playa Chica also benefits from being part of a larger complex designed by the artist and architect César Manrique, ensuring it is both aesthetically pleasing and well-integrated into the local landscape.
