Located in the port city of Malaga on southern Spain’s Costa del Sol, Playa del Palo is a long, narrow, and beige colored beach that is situated in a protected cove between two breakwaters. Also known as El Palo Beach, Playa del Palo has been awarded the Blue Flag by the European Union for its cleanliness and has the Q Seal of Tourism for its water quality. Playa del Palo was named after a small inn named ‘El Palo’ which was a part of the small neighborhood of Del Palo. Del Palo hosts the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel celebrations every year on July 16 that features religious processions, concerts, and flea markets near Playa del Palo. Playa del Palo is a family-friendly beach because of its shallow waters and is backed by palm trees with small lawns where you will find many small families picnicking.
