Sugar Beach(A Viceroy Resort, Sugar Beach)

Located on the southwestern side of the island of Saint Lucia, near the town of Soufriere, Sugar Beach is a small white sand beach that is recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.  The beach has a beautiful backdrop of an opulent hotel, the Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort nestled in a lush green rainforest and tucked between two iconic volcanic peaks, Petit Piton and Gros Piton, on either side along the shores of Pitons Bay, which together provide incredible views of the Caribbean Sea.  It is important to note that it is a public beach, so visitors don’t have to be guests of the resort to enjoy the beach.

Sugar Beach has many amenities, including lifeguards, restrooms, showers, a barbecue grill facility, a luxury hotel, restaurants, a boat ramp, a beach equipment rental facility, parasols, and sunbed rental facilities.  

Sugar Beach is a family-friendly beach that offers many fun activities, including sunbathing, beachcombing, hiking, boating, sailing, snorkeling, and diving.  If you are planning to go into the water, it is a perfect beach to go swimming, as the waves are usually calm.  It is an ideal spot for nature enthusiasts, as the beach offers amazing opportunities for snorkelers and divers to explore the coral reefs, marine creatures, and the depths of the ocean.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby two famous hiking trails, namely Petit Piton and Gros Piton, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.  In addition, visitors can also book dolphin cruises, deep-sea fishing tours, and other adventure tours.  Dogs are not allowed here, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Getting to Sugar Beach is easy - it has a paid parking lot located along Val Des Pitons 251, which provides easy access to the beach. 

The beach and the surrounding area were an 18th-century sugar plantation site popularly known as Jalousie Plantation.  In the 1990s, this 100-acre property was converted into a luxurious resort and attracted a large influx of visitors from all over the world.

There are many attractions near Sugar Beach.  Petit Piton is an iconic volcanic peak recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers adventurous hiking trails that meander through lush green rainforest, waterfalls, rugged cliffs, and slippery rocks and offer breathtaking views of the town of Soufriere and the island of Saint Lucia.  Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens and Mineral Baths have many gardens that are home to a wide variety of tropical plants, flowers, birds, and insects. In addition, it has many hot springs and the famous Diamond Falls, which is well-known for its mineral-rich waters with ever-changing vibrant colors.  Sapphire Fall and Jungle Spa offer amazing experiences for visitors to explore the natural rainforest, sulfur springs, mud baths, warm mineral pools, and waterfalls.  Millet Bird Sanctuary Trail is a one- and three-quarter-mile moderately challenging hiking trail that offers unique insight into the native biodiversity.  Visitors may spot more than 30 species of birds, including five endemic species: the St. Lucia Black Finch, St. Lucia Parrot, St. Lucia Warbler, St. Lucia Oriole, and St. Lucia Pewee.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Sulphur Springs Park is the only drive-in volcano in the world, where visitors can take guided tours and experience hot springs, mud baths, and unique geothermal activities.
