Located in the Tasman region, on the northern coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Kaiteriteri Beach is a one-kilometer-long, crescent-shaped golden sand beach with many rocky portions, which is considered one of the best beaches in the world.  This famous beach is just 13 kilometers from the town of Motueka, which serves as one of the main gateways to the famous Abel Tasman National Park and has been ranked as one of New Zealand’s most beautiful beaches.  It has a spectacular backdrop of headlands, hills, granite rocks, lush vegetation, a large park popularly known as Kaiteriteri Playground, a fountain, a promenade, and many oceanfront buildings, which together provide amazing views of the nearby islands and rock formations along the Tasman Sea.  The beach is positioned around the tidal estuary near the entrance of the beach, where it meets the bay, creating a mix of freshwater and saltwater ecosystems.  Kaiteriteri Beach is part of the Kaka Point Historic Reserve and is promoted as an ecotourism destination, encouraging sustainable tourism practices to preserve the natural beauty and diverse marine life of the region.

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Kaiteriteri Beach. Waterfront serves incredible seafood, meat, and poultry dishes.  Beached Whale Restaurant & Bar serves delicious salads, pizzas, falafels, burritos, meat, seafood, and poultry dishes.  Hooked on Marahau serves incredible salads, burgers, seafood, poultry, and meat dishes.  The Views serves amazing vegetarian dishes.  If you are looking for another good and affordable restaurant nearby, Beached Whale Restaurant & Bar serves delicious meat, seafood, and poultry dishes.

If you are looking for accommodation in Kaiteriteri, NZ, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 4-Star Kaiteriteri Recreation Reserve offers a few amenities, including a communal kitchen, a mini-golf course, a restaurant, a terrace, and campsites.  A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star Kimi Ora Eco Resort, which offers a few amenities, including an outdoor pool, hot tubs, a spa, comfortable rooms, and a kitchen in all rooms.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star Kaiteriteri Retreat and Kaiteriteri Massage, which has several amenities, including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a spa, and a kitchen in all rooms.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star Kaiteri Lodge, which has a few amenities, including a communal kitchen, a barbecue grill, a playground, a restaurant, and a mini-golf course.   If you are looking for another affordable hotel, Terraced Chalets has comfortable rooms and a kitchen in some rooms.

Kaiteriteri Beach does not have lifeguards but offers many other amenities, including restrooms, showers, changing rooms, picnic areas, beach equipment rental facilities, shaded areas, benches, a large playground with swing sets, barbecue grill areas, a mini-golf facility, a promenade, cycling paths, an observation point, many nearby restaurants, campgrounds, apartments, motels, an eco-resort, a general store, and hotels.

Kaiteriteri Beach is a family-friendly beach that offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, kayaking, watching wildlife, hiking, snorkeling, paddleboarding, boating, and photography.  If you plan to go into the water, the waves are usually calm, making it a safe area to swim.  There is a shallow estuary that runs into the beach, which is a perfect spot for kids to wade in.  The water near the beach is calm and shallow, which is ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats to explore nearby coves and inlets.  In addition, this beach serves as a popular launching point for water taxis, larger boats, sea kayaks, and other boat tours to Abel Tasman National Park.  Snorkelers and divers may spot the diverse marine life that thrives in its clear waters.  Kaiteriteri Beach faces north, making it an ideal spot to sunbathe as it provides all-day sunshine and warm waters.

Hiking is one of the popular things to do in Kaiteriteri; hikers can enjoy the nearby Withells Walk, Kaka Pah Point, or the immensely popular Abel Tasman Coast Track, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.    Interestingly, visitors can hike up the small headland at the southern end of the beach that leads to Little Kaiteriteri Beach, which is visible from the main beach and is mainly frequented by locals and visitors looking for a quiet beach experience.

Also, the nearby Kaiteriteri Mountain Bike Park provides cycling trails with scenic coastal views.  If you enjoy camping, you can book a campsite at Kaiteriteri Beach Campground, which offers an amazing camping experience.  Visitors often spot bottlenose dolphins, fur seals, little blue penguins, and various native birds, including tui, bellbirds, weka, and fantails, in the surrounding waters.  Kaiteriteri Beach is known for its pristine waters, striking rock formations, and breathtaking vistas that attract a large influx of visitors here, especially during summer, making it a perfect location for capturing photos.  Dogs are not allowed here, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.
