If you are looking for hotels near Ocean Beach, there are many great options nearby.  If you are looking for an upscale hotel, the 4-Star Comfort Hotel Flames is 33 minutes away by car and offers many amenities, including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, an outdoor seating area, and a barbecue grill facility.   A more affordable hotel is the 4-Star Distinction Whangarei Hotel & Conference Center, which offers many amenities, including a heated indoor pool, a hot tub, and a restaurant.  Another moderately priced option is the 4-Star Cheviot Park Motor Lodge, which has several amenities, including an outdoor pool, a hot tub, a barbecue grill facility, and picnic tables.  A more reasonably priced option is the 3-Star Motel Villa del Rio, which has a few amenities, including comfortable rooms and an outdoor pool.  If you are looking for another affordable hotel, Quest has comfortable rooms and a dining area.

Getting to Ocean Beach is easy - the beach has a large parking area near 374 Ocean Beach Road, Whangarei Heads 0174, New Zealand, that provides easy access to the beach.

Interestingly, there is an observation area near the beach that overlooks a memorial to commemorate the sinking of the only navy ship lost to enemy action in New Zealand waters during World War II.  Also, this beach is known for spectacular sunrises due to its east-facing orientation.

There are many attractions near Ocean Beach.  Taheke Waterfalls is a multi-tiered waterfall positioned within Taheke Scenic Reserve that cascades down rock cliffs, offering a peaceful and scenic escape for nature lovers.  Visitors can access this waterfall via an easy hiking trail that winds through lush native bushes, which offers a tranquil escape into nature.  A. H. Reed Memorial Kauri Park is a beautiful subtropical forest reserve, which is home to majestic 500-year-old kauri trees.  It has walkways with raised boardwalks, where visitors can experience the canopy of the towering kauri trees up close, without disturbing their sensitive roots.  In addition, there is a hidden waterfall along the track, popularly known as Pukenui Waterfalls, offering Instagram-worthy views.  Bream Head Scenic Reserve is a conservation area known for its rugged coastal landscapes, rich biodiversity, picturesque beaches, campsites, and hiking trails.  This reserve is home to a famous but challenging seven-kilometer-long hiking trail that leads to the 476-meter-high Te Whara (Bream Head) summit, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, Whangarei Heads, and offshore islands.  

Waipu Caves are a hidden gem featuring glowworms, limestone formations, and underground streams.  Visitors can explore the fascinating stalactites and stalagmites that have formed over thousands of years and enjoy hiking trails, capture photographs, and stargazing opportunities.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, Whangarei Falls is a breathtaking 26-meter-tall waterfall that cascades into a picturesque pool where visitors can take a refreshing dip.  Visitors can access this waterfall via an easy hiking trail that winds through lush native bushes, which offers a tranquil escape into nature.
