Magaruque Island

Magaruque Island, located in the Bazaruto Archipelago of Mozambique, is a beautiful white sand beach that stretches for approximately 4 kilometers. The sand color is a bright white, with turquoise blue water.

The island has a few amenities including bathroom access, but no lifeguards on duty or dogs allowed on the beach.

Visitors can also enjoy sunbathing, beach volleyball, and bird watching and that is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

As Magaruque Island is a small island, there is no parking lot available. Visitors usually arrive by boat from Vilanculos or other nearby islands.

Fun fact: Magaruque Island is a breeding ground for the endangered green turtle, which can be seen laying eggs on the beach at night during certain times of the year.

Aside from enjoying the stunning beach, visitors can also explore the island's interior and take a guided tour of the nearby Bazaruto National Park. The park is home to a variety of animals including dolphins, whales, crocodiles, and a range of bird species.

There are a few restaurants located on Magaruque Island, offering fresh seafood and traditional Mozambican cuisine. Some of the most popular restaurants include Casa Rex, Bahia Mar Club, and Palmeiras Lodge.
