Spiaggia Rosa, which translates to Pink Beach, is one of the of the few places in the world where you’ll find a beach with bright pink sand. Located on the small island of Budelli, just off of Italy’s west coast, Spiaggia Rosa’s sand gets its pink tint from bits of coral and crystal. The whole island, which covers only 1.6 square kilometers, is a part of the lovely La Maddalena National Park and is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands in the Mediterranean.
The island is uninhabited, but you can visit by boat on tours of the archipelago between Sardinia and Corsica. This beautiful pink sand beach has even been featured in the film “Il Deserto Rosso,” a popular Italian drama. Unfortunately, past problems with tourists taking home the sand has caused the Italian government to close down the beachfront – tourists cannot set foot on the pink sand, but they can tour the area by boat to get a good look at this unique paradise or to explore the rest of the island. To visit Spiaggia Rosa, book a boat tour through the Maddalena Archipelago from Palau, Sardinia.
Looking for a place to stay? Since Budelli island is uninhabited, you’ll want to find a hotel on Sardinia. Some great nearby hotels include Hotel Nido D'Aquila, Grand Hotel Resort Ma&Ma, Hotel Residence Villa Del Parco, Il Gabbiano, and Hotel Miralonga, all with upscale accommodations and stunning properties. Overall, Spiaggia Rosa is a pretty-in-pink destination, with stunning views of sea and sand.
