Meragang Beach, located on the northwestern coast of Brunei, is a quiet yet idyllic location. With miles of beachfront, visitors are likely to encounter few people. This allows beachgoers to experience the soft sands and foamy waves of the beach without the hustle and bustle of more popular and active beaches. However, be careful down the river -- Meragang Beach was nicknamed Crocodile Beach for a reason.
Muara Beach is a well-developed recreational area that is perfect for the whole family. Broad pedestrian avenues and picnic gazebos dot the beachfront, and a plaque that commemorates the Australian landing at Muara Beach, which helped to liberate Brunei during WW2, is on site. Being in a more popular location, Muara Beach is a great spot to picnic without feeling far away from the action.
