Platamona Beach, located in the northwest of Sardinia, is known for its vast expanse and shallow waters, making it an ideal destination for families with children. The beach stretches over 6,200 meters and offers a surface area of 186,000 square meters, comfortably accommodating up to 23,250 people. It features coarse yellow sand and a pine forest in the background, with views of a green-colored sea and a predominantly sandy seabed. The name Platamona originates from the Greek term for a flat surface, reflecting its flat and wide characteristics.
The surrounding area includes a retro-dunal lagoon, a site of community importance, where activities like birdwatching and fishing are popular. The beach is part of the municipality of Sorso but is considered the quintessential beach of Sassari, being about ten kilometers from the city.
