Agios Isidoros beach, located in Itanos, Crete, is a secluded paradise known for its stunning vistas and tranquil ambiance. It is situated at the northeasternmost tip of Crete, 32 km east of Sitia and 99 km east of Agios Nikolaos, within the territory of the Military Naval Station at Cape Sidero. The beach is small, with sand and some rocks, forming a semicircular cove protected by rocky outcrops. It is ideal for those seeking solitude and offers excellent conditions for swimming and fishing due to its clear waters and abundant marine life.
The area is rich in history, with the church and lighthouse of Saint Isidore nearby, built next to the ruins of a 14th-century temple. Underwater ruins of a 4th-century temple have also been discovered. However, access is restricted due to its status as a naval base, and visitors can only visit on February 4th, the feast day of Saint Isidore.
The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged beauty shaped by salt and wind, making it a unique destination for nature lovers and those interested in history.
