Lagomandra Beach(Lagomandra, Paralia Lagomandra)

Located near the coastal village of Neos Marmaras on the northwestern coast of the Sithonia peninsula in Greece, Lagomandra Beach is a one-kilometer-long popular beige sand beach with many rocky portions.  The beach is positioned in a sheltered inlet along the Toroneos Gulf and provides incredible views of the Aegean Sea.  Lagomandra Beach is divided into two main parts with one small ridge.  The northern part of the beach is very popular among families and has a beautiful backdrop of forested mountains, a few beachfront bars, and several hotels, including one with the same name, popularly known as Lagomandra Beach Hotel.  Whereas the southern part of the beach is wider and more secluded, which attracts campers.  The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag certification due to its cleanliness and water quality standards.

Lagomandra Beach is a family-friendly beach that offers many fun activities, including sunbathing, swimming, beachcombing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, snorkeling, diving, paddleboarding, hiking, and fishing.  If you are planning to go into the water, the waves are usually calm, making it a perfect spot to swim.    The water near the beach is shallow, which is ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats.  The beach offers amazing opportunities for snorkelers and divers to explore the underwater world.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby hiking trails, which offer unique insights into the local biodiversity.   The beach attracts a large influx of visitors during the summer season.  Dogs are not allowed here, and the beach is open from sunrise until sunset.

Lagomandra Beach is named after the "lagomandra" plant, a type of seashore vegetation that grows in the sandy soil along the coast of the Sithonia peninsula.

There are many attractions near Lagomandra Beach.  Petralona Cave has chambers and corridors that feature unique stalactite and stalagmite formations created by the slow dripping of water over thousands of years.  In addition, one of the most notable aspects of the cave is a human skull, popularly known as the “Petralona Skull,” which is believed to be about 700,000 years old, making it one of the oldest human remains in Europe.  Stone Forest in Greece is a unique natural wonder, consisting of layers of rock formations resembling trees at an altitude of 1,500 meters, formed by the erosion of limestones in an alpine environment.  Koukos Canyon Trail is a dog-friendly, two-mile-long, moderately challenging hiking trail that meanders through a steep and rocky Koukos Hill where hikers can explore the remains of prehistoric city walls that surround a settlement and that offer incredible views of village Sykia.  The Historical and Folklore Museum of Sarti has a gallery that displays interesting exhibits on the history and culture of the village of Sarti through historic artifacts, photographs, and related memorabilia.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, the Temple of Ammon Zeus is an archeological site where visitors can find the ruins of the temple dedicated to the Egyptian god Zeus, which offers a glimpse into the ancient history of the region.
