Southwest Caye

Located in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Dangriga, Belize, Southwest Caye is a beautiful beach destination with crystal-clear turquoise waters and soft white sand.

Southwest Caye has a few amenities, so visitors should plan accordingly. However, the beach does offer bathroom access and some shaded areas to escape from the sun.

The beach is approximately 0.5 miles long and offers a range of activities such as swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, and kayaking. There are no lifeguards on duty, but the beach offers restroom facilities and some shade from the sun.

There are no parking facilities on the island, but visitors can park in Dangriga and take a water taxi to the island.

Fun fact: Southwest Caye is part of the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The beach offers some of the best snorkeling and diving opportunities in Belize with beautiful coral reefs and abundant marine life. Visitors can also take a boat ride to nearby islands and explore other attractions such as the Mayflower Bocawina National Park and the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary.

There are several nearby restaurants on the mainland in Dangriga that serve Belizean cuisine and fresh seafood. Some popular options include Thongs Cafe and the Riverside Cafe.

While there are no hotels on Southwest Caye, there are plenty of accommodation options on the mainland in Dangriga, including hotels, guesthouses, and vacation rentals. Some popular options include Pelican Beach Resort, Bonefish Hotel, and Chaleanor Hotel.
