Snelling Beach is a picturesque and secluded haven located in Middle River, South Australia, on the north coast of Kangaroo Island. It is approximately 660 to 1.5 kilometers long, depending on the source, and features soft white sand and crystal-clear waters. The beach offers stunning coastal views and is backed by a 10-meter high foredune, with the Middle River flowing through the floodplain. The area is known for its rugged cliffs and beautiful sunsets, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and outdoor activities like swimming and kayaking.
Among its unique features is a surf zone with waves averaging over a meter, which creates four beach rips and permanent rips against the rocks at each end. This environment supports a variety of marine life and offers opportunities to spot dolphins and seabirds. The North Coast Road provides easy access to the beach, along with a scenic lookout that overlooks the entire stretch.
