Heron Island

The beach also has many amenities including bathroom access, picnic areas, and sun loungers. However, there are no lifeguards on duty, and dogs are not allowed on the beach.

There are no parking facilities on Heron Island, as the island is a natural reserve and only accessible by boat or plane. Visitors can park their vehicles at the Gladstone Marina and catch a ferry or seaplane to the island. Seaplane transfers to the island are available at an additional cost.

Fun fact: Heron Island is a nesting site for turtles and a haven for birdwatchers, as it is home to over 200 species of birds. Visitors can witness the incredible sight of baby turtles hatching and making their way to the sea.
