Archer Point Conservation Park is a stunning coastal area located near Cooktown, Queensland. It is nestled close to the world heritage sites of the Wet Tropics Rainforests and the Great Barrier Reef. The park boasts a mix of pebble, coral, and sandy beaches, with reefs just offshore, making it an ideal spot for snorkeling and swimming. The area is wind prone but offers breathtaking views of the pebbly and sandy shores. The Yuku Baja Muliku people are the traditional custodians of this land, which is rich in cultural sites and diverse wildlife, including turtles and dugongs.
Archer Point is undergoing rehabilitation to protect its coastal ecosystem, which has been previously damaged due to misuse. As part of this effort, overnight stays are currently restricted to a designated area past Second Beach. The lack of facilities at Archer Point means visitors must be prepared with their supplies and take waste upon leaving.
The park's proximity to Cooktown provides easy access to the Mulligan Highway and the scenic drive along the Archer Point Road. The local Yuku Baja Muliku Rangers work diligently to preserve the region's biodiversity and cultural heritage.
