Overview
Located in the suburb of Kurnell, Towra Beach – also called Towra Spit Beach – is a northeast-facing 800-meter-long beach with light brown sand, some driftwood, and nearby wetlands and seagrass fields in southern Sydney. Towra Beach is a part of Towra Point Nature Preserve and it is managed by the NSW National Parks. The wetlands within Towra Point Nature Reserve are protected under the Ramsar Convention of 1971 due to their ecological significance.
Amenities
Towra Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities. However, the boat launch area near the beach has many amenities including restrooms, picnic areas, barbecue areas, grassy recreational areas, and benches.
Dogs are not allowed at the beach.

Towra Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, swimming, fishing, picnicking, paddleboarding, boating, jet-skiing, surf-skiing, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife watching.
If you are planning to swim, kayak, or paddleboard here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents and dangerous waves. This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience because it sees few visitors and it is one of the calm beaches Sydney offers to visitors.
If you like birdwatching, you can see many rare migratory birds around this beach.

Parking
Getting to Towra Beach can be difficult because the only way to reach this beach is by boat, kayak, or canoe – from a local highway named A1, you need to turn towards a road named The Boulevarde and then towards Captain Cook Drive. You need to drive along this road until you reach a T-point intersection in the suburb of Kurnell. You then need to turn left from this intersection to reach Prince Charles Parade. Once you reach Prince Charles Parade, you need to drive towards the western end of the road to reach Bonna Point Boat Ramp. There is a large free parking lot at this boat ramp – once you park here, you can launch your boat, kayak, or canoe from here. You need to travel across Quibray Bay to reach Towra Beach.

If you like taking Towra Point Nature Preserve photos with excellent views, Towra Beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of Botany Bay and the southern Sydney shoreline, especially at sunset. In addition, the famous British explorer Captain Cook explored and mapped the area around this beach in 1770.

Marton Park is a recreational park that offers many amenities including grassy recreational areas, a multiple-use sports court, a playground, and a running path – this park offers many fun activities including basketball, netball, rugby, and cricket. Gunnamatta Park is a recreational park that offers many amenities including barbecues, restrooms, shaded areas, a playground, and drinking water facilities. This waterfront park also offers a nearby bathing area named Gunnamatta Bay Tidal Baths and a beach named Gunnamatta Park Beach. If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Shark Park – also named Endeavour Field and PointsBet Stadium – is a rugby stadium that is the home ground of the Cronulla-Sutherland Rugby League Club and this stadium offers fun rugby matches.
