Amenities

Sandy Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities except two boat ramps, so please plan accordingly. 

Dogs are not allowed at Sandy Beach.

Activities

Sandy Beach offers many fun activities including sunbathing, beachcombing, fishing, boating, picnicking, swimming, jet-skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, bodyboarding, skimboarding, water-skiing, paddleboarding, wakeboarding, kayaking, canoeing, surf-skiing, and wildlife watching. 

Sandy Beach is ideal for less-experienced swimmers because the water here is usually known to have gentle lapping waves. If you are planning to swim, kayak,  canoe, or paddleboard near this sandy seashore, we recommend being careful because the water here can have unpredictable rip currents. 

The beach is also an ideal site for sunbathing and picnicking because the local Sandy Beach weather is usually sunny and temperate.

Sandy Beach does not offer wheelchair access to visitors with disabilities.

Parking

Getting to Sandy Beach is easy from Highway A8, you need to turn towards Barrenjoey Road.  From Barrenjoey road, you need to turn towards Iluka Road.  The multiple entrances to Sandy Beach are located near Iluka Road and there are multiple free street parking spaces nearby.

If you like taking pictures with beautiful views, this beach offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of the surrounding sandy Palm Beach shoreline and a bay named Pittwater.

Attractions

There are many attractions near Sandy Beach.  Barrenjoey Lighthouse is a beautiful historic sandstone lighthouse that was built in 1881 and the area around it also offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and the northern Sydney shoreline.  Governor Phillip Park is a waterfront recreational park that offers many amenities including barbecues, picnic areas, grassy recreational areas, restrooms, a playground, and a boat ramp.  This park also has a water play area during summers and you can see beautiful flowering Jacaranda trees here in November.  The Bible Garden also called the Palm Beach Bible Garden is a garden that offers grassy lawn terraces and it has plants mentioned in the Bible.  This garden also has a pond and it also offers amazing views of the suburb of Palm Beach.  Bilgola North Headland is a headland that has a nearby beach named Bilgola Beach and this headland also has an observation area named North Bilgola Lookout.  This lookout offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and the northeastern Sydney shoreline.  If you are looking for another attraction near the beach, Mona Vale Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course that offers a fun and challenging golfing experience.

Restaurants

If you get hungry, there are many great restaurants near Sandy Beach.  Coast Palm Beach offers many amazing dishes for breakfast and lunch including seafood, burgers, toasts, eggs, falafel, and wraps the restaurant also serves amazing coffee.  Jonah’s is an upscale waterfront restaurant that offers amazing seafood, along with many other dishes for lunch and dinner including pastas, duck, risotto, steaks, and lamb.  Dunes Palm Beach has a Mediterranean-inspired decor and it also offers many amazing dishes including seafood, roast lamb, focaccia, pasta, and beef dishes.  Barrenjoey House Palm Beach is a hotel with a restaurant that offers amazing dishes including seafood, steak, chicken supreme, flatbread, and eggplant.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby restaurant, Chargrill Charlie’s offers amazing barbecued chicken and it also offers other delicious dishes including burgers, salads, Asian dishes, and chicken wings.

If you are looking for a hotel near Sandy Beach, there are many great nearby options within a 25-minute drive.  Barrenjoey House Palm Beach is a nearby historic Sandy Beach resort that was built in 1923 and has many amenities including a restaurant, a lounge, and a terrace.  Jonah’s Boutique Hotel and Restaurant is another upscale hotel that offers many amenities including a restaurant, a swimming pool, gardens, a bar, and spa services.  The 4-Star Narrabeen Sands Hotel by Nightcap Plus offers many amenities including a restaurant, bike rental facilities, an ATM, and a bar.  A more affordable accommodation option is the NRMA Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park that offers accommodation in cabins and villas, and offers many amenities including barbecue areas, a camp kitchen, a waterpark, pedal kart hiring facility, and a playground.  If you are looking for another good and affordable nearby hotel, the 3-Star Palm Beach Bed & Breakfast has a car-centred theme and offers many amenities including gardens and complimentary breakfast.
