Overview
Located in the affluent suburb of Mosman, Obelisk Beach – also called Georges Beach – is a small curve-shaped beach with light brown sand and large nearby sandstone rocks. This beach is part of a national park named Sydney Harbor National Park and it is known to be popular with members of the Gay community. This beach is an official nude beach – if you are planning a clothing-optional visit at Obelisk Nude Beach, please note that there is not much sunlight here in the afternoon, making the temperature here cold if you’re going to be naked.

Getting to Obelisk Beach is easy – the long, steep, and rugged access trail to this beach is located along Chowder Road and this trail is easily identifiable through a signpost. The trail leads to a set of stairs that eventually in turn lead to Obelisk Beach.
There are a few free street parking areas near Obelisk Beach, along with a nearby paid Obelisk Beach parking lot – this lot is located near the intersection between Chowder Head Road and Middle Head Road.
Fun Fact
Before European colonization, the area around this beach was inhabited by Aboriginal Australians who spoke the Guringai language. In addition, Obelisk Beach was the subject of paintings made by the artist Herbert Reginald Gallop during the early 20th century.
Attractions
There are many attractions near Obelisk Beach within a 25-minute drive. If you like hiking, there is a nearby headland named Middle Head – this headland offers a fun hiking experience and it also offers excellent views of Middle Harbor and the Mosman shoreline. The park also has a walking trail that offers interesting insight into the local cultural and natural history. Wendy Whiteley’s Secret Garden is a garden created by artist Wendy Whiteley and it has a wide variety of native and non-native plant species. This garden also has picnic tables, benches, sculptures, and engraved stone tablets.
