Overview
Located in the suburb of La Perouse in eastern Sydney, Little Congwong Beach is a small curve-shaped beach with light brown sand and a nearby rocky shoreline. Little Congwong Beach is a part of a national park named Kamay Botany Bay National Park. This beach is not to be confused with another nearby beach with a similar name – this other beach is called Congwong Beach and is larger than Little Congwong Beach.
Little Congwong Beach is also considered a nude beach – and is also popular with members of the LGBTQ community.
This nude beach in La Perouse was also featured in an article within RUSSH magazine article named “The best beaches in Sydney according to the ‘RUSSH’ editors.”

Although Little Congwong Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, the area near it offers many other amenities including toilets, concession stands, walking paths, and drinking water facilities. Please note that most of the facilities near Little Congwong Beach are located around the parking lot. Dogs are not allowed at Little Congwong Beach.

If you are planning to swim, snorkel, kayak, or scuba dive here, we recommend being careful because the water here is known to have unpredictable rip currents. In addition, sharks also live nearby and shark-related attacks have previously occurred here. We also recommend avoiding water activities near this beach after heavy rains because runoff from the nearby storm drain can pollute the water here.
This beach is ideal for visitors looking for a quieter beach experience because it sees fewer visitors as compared to other nearby beaches. Another nearby beach that is known for having relatively few visitors is Cruwee Cove Beach.

The access path for Congwong Beach is located near 1532R Anzac Parade and there are multiple free street parking spaces and free parking lots nearby. After parking your car, you can easily walk along an access trail to reach Congwong Beach. From Congwong Beach, you need to walk on another trail named “Little Congwong Beach Track” that will lead you to the access stairway for Little Congwong Beach.

While the meaning of the name of the beach – Little Congwong Beach – is not clearly known, it has been theorized that it has Aboriginal Australian origins. In addition, Little Congwong Beach also offers amazing Instagram-worthy views of Botany Bay and the La Perouse Beach Sydney shoreline.
