Located on a Massachusettsan island named Martha’s Vineyard, Lucy Vincent Beach - also known as Lucinda Vincent Memorial Beach and previously known as Jungle Beach, Blue Mailbox Beach, and Barn House Beach - is a popular beach with white sand, nearby beach grass, and a few rocky portions in the town of Chilmark.  The beach is situated below steep oceanfront bluffs. The beach and the shoreline around it are known to have many unique large rock formations - these rock formations are known to be at least thousands of years old. One of the most prominent rock formations of the beach was a naturally-formed rocky spire - this spire was often the subject of many artworks and photographs by local artists and photographers. Unfortunately, this spire collapsed in 2020. Lucy Vincent Beach has been named the 34th Best Beach in the Top 50 Beaches in the United States list in 2022 by Randall Kaplan, the world’s foremost beach expert who is known as "Mr. Beach." 

Lucy Vincent Beach does not have lifeguards or any other public amenities, so plan accordingly. Dogs are not allowed at Lucy Vincent Beach.

As an interesting fact, the beach is named in honour of Lucinda "Lucy" Vincent - Lucy was the town librarian for Chilmark who previously owned the area around the beach. In the 1990s, archaeologists found human remains and artefacts around the beach dating back to the Pre Columbian-era. 

There are many attractions near Lucy Vincent Beach. Gay Head Light (also known as Gay Head Lighthouse) is a historic lighthouse which was built in the mid 19th century - this historical lighthouse was the first lighthouse to relieve first-order Fresnel Lens and it is also one of the few lighthouses in the United States to have Native American keepers. This 51-foot-tall lighthouse is seasonally open to the public and it offers a unique insight into the local history. Polly Hill Arboretum is spread around 70 acres and it was founded by horticulturist Polly Hill. This botanical garden uses walls, fields, and buildings for displaying more than1600 kinds of plant species - some of the arboretum’s features include a magnolia with 18-inch white blossoms and unique monkey puzzle trees and the arboretum also offers interesting educational programs. If you are looking for another attraction near Lucy Vincent Beach, Menemsha Hills is a 211-acre protected reserve that has a vibrant landscape consisting of many kinds of habitats including coastal plains, woodland trees, and wetlands, along with a hill named Prospect Hill. You can explore the reserve’s vibrant habitat via the hiking trails here - the reserve’s hiking trails also offer Instagram-worthy views of the Martha’s Vineyard shoreline and the Vineyard Sound and the reserve is also a great fishing spot.
