Overview

Located in the city of Flagler Beach, Gamble Rogers State Park has a half-mile-long and wide beach that is backed by the Halifax River and the Matanzas River. Spread across 144 acres, Gamble Rogers State Park was named after Gamble Rogers – a Florida folk singer and is also known as Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area.  Gamble Rogers State Park is an awesome destination for swimming, fishing, boating, canoeing, hiking, bicycling, coastal camping, beachcombing, and watching loggerhead, green, and leatherback sea turtles. Gamble Rogers State Park’s beach has beautiful golden-beige-colored sand and is surrounded by many old fallen tree stumps where you will many families and couples.

Activities

There are many fun activities at Gamble Rogers State Park including swimming, surfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, boating, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing, picnicking, and sunbathing. If you are looking for additional activities, you can a few minutes west to the shores of the Matanzas River where you can watch many birds and animals.  Gamble Rogers State Park is situated at 3100 South Ocean Shore Boulevard and there are many free street parking spots on the nearby roads that provide easy access to the beach. 

Attractions

If you are looking for nearby attractions, there are many options within an eight-minute drive of Gamble Rogers State Park. Bulow Plantation Ruins Historic State Park offers many recreational activities including canoeing, kayaking, boating, picnicking, and watching bald eagles, swallow-tailed kites, and Florida manatees. Flagler Beach Historical Museum is home to many collections of artifacts and images from World War II, local surfing legends, and severe weather events. The 18-hole waterside golf course Cypress Knoll Golf & Country Club hosts many events and offers a restaurant and bar. Another great attraction near Gamble Rogers State Park is Flagler Beach Municipal Pier, an 800-feet-long pier well-known for fishing and birdwatching. 

Restaurants

If you get hungry, there are many restaurants within a four-minute drive of Gamble Rogers State Park. The American restaurant Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill has a nice menu that includes burgers, fries, ceviches, salads, and drinks. If you like Mexican food, Dahlia Flagler Beach serves tacos, quesadillas, Pico guacamole, burritos, salads, and desserts. Another good restaurant near Gamble Rogers State Park is Tony’s Pizza, a pizza restaurant featuring homemade pizza, breadsticks, and chicken wings. 

Hotels

If you are looking for a hotel near Gamble Rogers State Park, you can drive three minutes to the 3-Star Island Cottage Oceanfront Inn features a pool, Jacuzzis, and ocean-view rooms and suites. Best Western Plus Flagler Beach Area Inn & Suites is a nice 3-Star hotel that offers a pool and fitness center. If you are looking for an affordable hotel near Gamble Rogers State Park, the 2-Star Beach Front Motel welcomes pets.
