Gray Whale Cove Nude Beach(Edun Beach, Gray Whale North Beach, Grey Whale Nude Beach)

Located to the north of the city of Montara, Gray Whale Nude Beach – also known as Edun Beach and Gray Whale North Beach – is a wide beach with golden sand that is situated below oceanfront bluffs. A large natural rock wall is also present on this beach. A peculiar structure named Devil’s Slide Bunker is present in the blufftop area above this beach. This structure is an old World War Two-era bunker that was installed for protection against coastal attacks. 

Gray Whale Nude Beach does not have lifeguards or any other amenities, so plan your trip accordingly. 

There are many attractions near Gray Whale Nude Beach. McNee Ranch State Park is scenic state park that offers an amazing biking experience and is famous among local mountain bikers. The state park also has an eight-mile long hiking trail that is only moderately difficult, and you can see an amazing variety of wild-flowers while hiking here. Pedro Point Headlands is a park that features a hiking trail named Bluff Trail that offers amazing views of oceanfront cliffs, the offshore San Pedro Rock, and the northern California coastline. In addition, you can also spot a wide variety of birds while hiking here. If you are looking for another attraction near Gray Whale Nude Beach, Point Montara Light Station was built in 1857 and offers amazing Instagram-worthy photos. The area around this light station is a great spot for watching migrating grey whales, which can be seen in the water near the light station between November and April.

Getting to Gray Whale Cove Nude Beach is easy – it is located along Cabrillo Highway / Pacific Coast Highway, approximately a mile north of another state-protected beach named Montara State Beach. There is also a small free parking area near Gray Whale Nude Beach which is located across the highway. The beach is a minute’s walk away from the parking lot.
