Located on the eastern end of the coastal village of Bundeena in the southern suburbs of Sydney, Jibbon Beach is an 800-meter-long crescent-shaped beige sand beach that curves to the east with many rocky portions.  The beach is positioned along the north shore of Port Hacking and has a beautiful background of dunes and coastal vegetation that separates the beach from the Jibbon Lagoon, which together provide Instagram-worthy views.  The beach is part of Royal National Park, which preserves the fragile ecosystem, including rainforests, deep river valleys, waterfalls, heathlands, rocky cliffs, hiking trails, and ancient Aboriginal sites.

Activities

Jibbon Beach offers many fun activities, including swimming, sunbathing, snorkeling, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, picnicking, and beach fishing.  If you are planning to go into the water, the waves are usually calm, making it a suitable area for swimming.  The shallow water of the beach is ideal for canoes, kayaks, and small boats.  If you enjoy snorkeling, the beach offers amazing opportunities to explore the underwater world.  Anglers may catch a variety of fish, including bream, whiting, flathead, mulloway, tailor, salmon, bonito, and trevally.  Hikers can enjoy the nearby Jibbon Loop Track and Jibbon Rock Engravings, which offers unique insights into the local biodiversity.  Dogs are allowed if they are on a leash, and it is open from sunrise until sunset.

Attractions

There are many attractions near Jibbon Beach.  Royal National Park is the second-oldest national park in the world, established in 1879.  It covers 151 square kilometers and preserves fragile ecosystems, including coastal cliffs, beaches, littoral rainforest, deep river valleys, waterfalls, heathlands, rocky cliffs, hiking trails, ancient Aboriginal sites, and abundant wildlife, that offer unique insight into the local biodiversity.  Wedding Cake Rock Trail is a five-kilometer-long hiking trail that meanders through a steep and rocky track along coastal heathland that leads to a unique but fragile geological formation that has a striking resemblance to a slice of layered wedding cake due to its flat, white, and layered appearance.  It is important to note that erosion and natural processes have made the rock unstable, so we recommend visitors avoid going too close to the edge.  Also, barriers and warning signs have been erected around the area to ensure the safety of visitors.

Wattamolla Falls is a 20-meter-tall waterfall that cascades into a serene pool surrounded by a lush green landscape, providing visitors with an idyllic spot for swimming, picnicking, hiking, watching wildlife, and enjoying nature.  Heathcote National Park is spread over 6,620 acres and is home to rugged sandstone cliffs, waterfalls, creeks, gorges, swimming holes, dense eucalyptus forests, heaths, hiking trails, and diverse flora and fauna.  Visitors can enjoy many recreational activities, including bushwalking, picnicking, birdwatching, and camping.  If you are looking for another nearby attraction, The Figure Eight Pools are natural rock pools that resemble the number eight formed by the crashing of waves into the rocks.  It is located on a dangerous rocky shelf, which can be accessed by a challenging hike over rugged terrain.  Despite the challenges, it offers a unique and unforgettable experience.
